Our vineyards are located in Castiglione di Sicilia and Randazzo, on the north side of Mount Etna, and in Milo, on the east side.
The scenery is breathtaking. The vineyards are interspersed with tongues of black lava rock, as dark as pitch. These were formed during the “Randazzo eruption” of 1981 when fissures opened up just a few hundred metres from our vineyards, at an elevation of 1,165 metres above sea level. The microclimate is unique, not only due to the temperature-regulating effect of the sea, which is less than 20 km away, but also thanks to the nearby Alcantara River, which flows through the valley that separates Mount Etna from the Nebrodi mountains.
Castiglione di Sicilia, Savoca and Campisi Vineyards
Contrada Diciassettesalme
In Passopisciaro, in the Castiglione di Sicilia municipality, at an altitude of 480 meters and approximately 600 meters as the crow flies from the banks of the Alcantara River, you’ll find the Savoca and Campisi vineyards, planted in the 1970s.
Castiglione di Sicilia, Vicario Vineyard
Contrada Feudo di Mezzo
In Passopisciaro, in the Castiglione di Sicilia municipality, at an altitude of 540 meters, stands one of the most important company vines: vigna Vicario. The 4500 plants are each held by a chestnut pole. The lava stone terraces allow to overcome a 70 meters height difference within such vine.
Randazzo, Nucifora Vineyard
Contrada Pino
In Randazzo, inside an ancient extinct crater, among chestnut and oak forests, 943 m above sea leve, you’ll find one of the highest vineyards on Mount Etna. The vines are entirely planted on their own roots, and they are over a century old, predating the phylloxera epidemic. The hundred-year tradition of the Nucifora family, historic winemakers of Randazzo, is currently being restored, with the replacement of the cement posts introduced in the 1970s, with the traditional chestnut posts of Mount Etna.
Randazzo, Scrivano Vineyard
Contrada Pignatuni
In Randazzo, 650 m above sea level, stands Scrivano vineyard, a small 2000 m2 cru, planted entirely with the alberello system, with ancient vines of over 90 years old. The nerello mascalese vines have a very high density, a cultivation method that yields wines of the highest quality. Entirely handmade by our team, as in the past.
Milo, Di Pietro Vineyard
Contrada Rinazzo
In Milo, 860 m above sea level, inside a lava flow channel made less steep by mankind, over the centuries, thanks to the creation of lava stone terraces, stands vigna Di Pietro. An ancient 19th-century palmento stands on the property, overlooking the sea of Taormina. In this territory Tenute dei Ciclopi’s Etna Bianco Superiore was born. It is one of 15 Etna wines to bear this appellation.
